We took a drive out of the big city yesterday to visit my sister and brother in Cambridge. It was a lovely day filled with laundry, showers, chats and little children. After a fabulous dinner (thanks again Julie!) we heading to Mike's place to have a drink and then drive to Hamilton to surprise Halifax band Down With The Butterfly where they were playing at The Underground, on Catherine St. NOT Catherine Court, as the internet told me, and then sent me on a wild and crazy drive through a residential neighborhood. But we had a fun little drive on a gravel road through the woods and hills. It was fun! Then as we got downtown, we managed to find the bar with extremely little difficulty. Good times were had by all.
Except for the fact that the show had started early, and was over by midnight. Apparently around here everyone goes to the bar early, and leaves early. Not so in the Maritimes, where no one leaves home before 11pm and the crowds get to the bars around midnight. Wierd.
So, today we're heading back into Toronto to hang out with a few friends there, and drink lots at an awesome place called Cafe Volo. I'm super excited. And, in other good news, my cold seems to be almost gone - I think I might just be okay for the gig on Monday.
Here's a tentative schedule for the next week or so;
Friday - Sunday - Toronto
Monday - Gig at Mitzi's Sister, 1554 Queen St. W, starting at 9pm
Tuesday - going to see Down With The Butterfly at the Horseshoe Tavern, 10pm
Wednesday - heading back to Cambridge/Hamilton to play open stage in Hamilton (Pepper Jack Cafe, 38 King William St)
Thursday - heading to Niagara Falls/London to play open stage at Robinson Hall
Friday - starting the drive to Winnipeg
Subject to change . . .
We're good, car is good, Mike made us banana pancakes and eggs this morning. Yum.
Take care y'all,
Drea
