Surprise parties, birthday parties and Star Trek, TNG
Jesse is home!
My good friend arrived home on Thursday and on Friday he surprised a bunch of us as we were drinking at Cafe Volo. It was an awesome party which lasted until the wee hours of the morning and included some interesting overseas phone-calls (prego?), and a voicemail message to our favorite comedian, Mike Bullard.
Last night Moe and I briefly attended a birthday party for David Picco, a great musician, at the home of Megan Hamilton, one of the lovely people who will be sharing the stage with me at Mitzi's Sister tomorrow night. We were only there for a little while, as we wanted to catch the subway before they stopped running for the night, and discovered were were quite tired after the late night Friday.
Today we decided to get out of the city, as it was getting a bit expensive (eating out all of the time, drinking too much beer) and also I wanted to give our gracious host and hostess a bit of space. So, we're back in Cambridge hanging at my brother's pad, watching Star Trek TNG and relaxing. I'm planning on heading out to Goderich to take a look around, as I stayed there for a while during the Katimavik program, and I really would like to track down my old friend Dave MacKechnie. It's been seven years . . .
And thankfully, my cold is gone. I'm looking forward to playing a number of shows this week, and then driving out to Winnipeg.
It's cloudy but fairly warm here, good weather for driving.
